Shoe sizing differs between countries, and even within the same system, there is no single universal standard. US, UK, and EU sizes each follow different numbering conventions, and sizes often do not translate perfectly between brands. When buying online from international retailers, always measure your foot and compare to the brand's size chart rather than relying solely on size conversions.
To measure your foot: stand on a piece of paper and trace around your foot. Measure the longest distance from heel to the tip of your longest toe. Do this for both feet and use the larger measurement. Measure in the afternoon, when feet are naturally slightly larger after a day of activity.
US men's and women's sizes are not the same numbering system despite using the same label. A men's 8.5 and a women's 8.5 are different sizes. Women's sizes run about 1.5 sizes larger than men's sizes for the same foot length. A woman who wears a US women's 8.5 would wear a US men's 7.
